Nextpoint, which sells hosted e-discovery software, is ramping up its user customization options.
Customization is a necessary part of succeeding in cloud-based software, but many vendors and law firms don’t yet appreciate that, asserted Ben Wolf, the company’s vice president for research and development, in Chicago yesterday.
Nextpoint for the past year has been releasing customization options focused on data views and interfaces, and has more planned throughout 2012, Wolf said. That trajectory is usually based on feedback from customers, such as the ability to customize document codes with details about confidentiality, privilege, and responsiveness, and the addition of metadata into redaction stamp text. Both were announced this week.
Users are informed through the company’s laboratory blog — an approach common at companies like Google and some mainstream information technology giants, but rarely seen in the legal sector. “We’re definitely committed to it. Our process in general is we sort of release early and often, being a cloud provider,” Wolf said.
